A 15-second spot for Republican Ohio Supreme Court candidate Dan Hawkins is a throwback to old-fashioned biographical advertising.

Hawkins, a Franklin County Court of Common Pleas judge, makes no accusations or attacks on his opponent. The ad calls him a “dedicated prosecutor and judge delivering justice for victims.” The images likewise are wholesome: Hawkins in the courtroom, talking to law enforcement and with his family.

“The name Ohio trusts,” the spot concludes.

Honestly, there aren’t many options for creativity in a short ad, but Hawkins gets his name and face out there. His election committee paid for the ad.
